Obituary

PAXTON-Peter J. Rougas, 82, of Paxton, formerly of Rhode Island, died Wednesday, August 3rd, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Drapos) Rougas; three daughters, Karen J. Rougas of Worcester, Theodora V. Pace and her husband Anthony of W. Granby, CT and Alexis Rougas-Ermilio and her husband John of Worcester; two sisters, Despina, wife of Peter Leasca of Worcester and Kay, wife of George Chopas of N. Andover; four grandchildren, Anthony and Alexandra Pace and Nicholas and Lana Ermilio; and many nephews and nieces. His brother George Rougas predeceased him.
He was born in Ansonia, CT the son of John and Calliope (Stappas) Rougas; graduated from Central High School in Providence, RI and attended Bryant College. Mr. Rougas was a co-owner of Caravan Coffee and had previously owned Gold Star Distributors, a distributor of Stella D’Oro products. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its seniors group and was a former member of The Order of AHEPA, and the Hellenic Arts Society. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed flying remote controlled planes.
The funeral is Monday, August 8th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, August 7th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
