Dartmouth – Mary L. (Alves) Tavares age 91 years died peacefully at home with her loved ones presence on August 2nd. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Tavares who passed last year on August 2nd. She was the loved mother of Carol Tavares, Paul Tavares and his wife Linda all of Dartmouth. Mary was the loving grandmother of Nicole Tavares of Dartmouth. She was the sister of Evelyn Alves and James Alves of Bristol RI. and the late Manuel Alves, Julia Laroche, Lenora Holstein and Hilda Delmage. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tavares was a daughter of the late Manuel Luiz Alves and Maria De Estrella (Cabral Picos) Alves. Mary was born in Bristol RI. and lived there most of her life. She was a homemaker. Mary was a member of the Saint Mary’s Ladies Guild.
Mrs. Tavares’ funeral will be Monday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth at 10 A.M. Visiting hours are Sunday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
