Obituary

Edward Paul “Eddie” Keen, age 67, of 429 Woodlawn Drive, Danville, died Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Duke University Medical Center after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Born October 13, 1943 in Danville, he was the son of the late Paul Leonard Keen and Josephine Wilmouth Keen. He lived his entire life in Danville and was a well-known painter, owning and operating Keen Painting & Papering. Mr. Keen had also served in the National Guard. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Blair Keen.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Eddie Keen and his wife Angela of Danville, Kevin B. Keen of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; a sister-in-law: Tommye Blair Gery of Danville. He was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Keen Culbertson.

The family will receive friends in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Funeral services and interment will be private. At other times, respects may be paid to the family at the residence on Woodlawn Drive.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541, or the Danville Cancer Association, 2323 Riverside Drive, Danville, VA 24540. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to his wonderful caregivers in the 9100 unit at Duke University Medical Center.
