Mrs. Beverly Ann Ritchey Kauffman, age 88, widow of the late Dwayne Kauffman, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on March 24, 1923 in Peoria, IL, to the late Unie Elmo and Emily Grace Ritchey. Mrs. Kauffman was a devoted wife and mother, and was a member of the First Christian Church of Abbington, IL. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Stars. Mrs. Kauffman is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, William “Bill” and Louise Kauffman, of Mt. Airy, and Douglas and Cora Lee Kauffman, of Sykesville, MD; one daughter and son in law, Dianna and Timothy Ellis, of Bowling Green, VA; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kauffman was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; and four brothers, Charles Bakalar, Harold Ritchey, Preston Ritchey, and Jack Ritchey. A Graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain with a memorial service to follow with Pastor Bill Watson officiating.
