Obituary

Brian A. O'Hanlon, 55, of Groton died unexpectedly on July 28, 2011.

He was born on November 2nd 1955 in Berkeley CT to the late Harold A. and Priscilla (Kingsbury) O'Hanlon. He was raised in Mystic and in his early years he was involved in the Boy Scouts, he also loved backpacking, canoeing, camping and the outdoors.

A 1974 graduate of Fitch High School, he then went to work at Electric Boat. In April 1977 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was medically discharged in May of 1977. He went back to work at EB and later was employed by Paul's TV. Currently he was employed at ACME Wire in Mystic where he felt they were more family than employer. Brian lived life to the fullest and lived it on his terms. His warm and friendly smile will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his father who passed away on July 31, 1981 and his oldest sister Candy who passed away in February of 2005.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, SGT Brian O'Hanlon who is in the U.S. Army stationed at Wheeler Airfield in Honolulu, HI, and his daughter Melissa (Matthew) of Spencer MA. He also leaves his ex-wife Kathy of Douglas, MA.

Besides his mother, he is also survived by his brothers, Craig (Eileen) of AZ, John (Sonia) of NJ, Allan of ID, and Terry (Donna) of Gales Ferry. He leaves his sisters Wendy (Red) Beard of NM, Bonnie Haggan of Groton, Priscilla (Ron) Coumerilh of ID and Heidi (Charlie) Plungis of Mystic. He leaves many, many nieces and nephews.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday from 5:30 to 6:45pm followed by a service.Burial will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to The Heart and Vascular Center Yale New Haven Hospital Office of Development, P.O. Box 1849, New Haven ST 06508-9979.
