Winifred C. (Cox) White, of Abington died on Friday July 22nd in the Colony House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late William J. White.
She was born in Somerville in 1921 and graduated from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. In 1944 she married William J. White and in 1952 they settled in Abington.
In 2004 she donated preservation restrictions to the Stewardship Program of Historic New England (SPNEA) to preserve the family’s 1751 historic home in Abington.
She was a watercolorist and an award-winning amateur photographer. Her favorite job was Assistant to the Art Director at Larkin Publications in Chestnut Hill.
She loved traveling, reading, music and art.
She is survived by her 3 children, Stephen White of Somerville, MA, Sarah Leslie of Los Angeles, CA and David White of Putney, VT.; 2 grandchildren, Jacob White-Diemand and his wife Cynthia of Winchester, OR and Tessa White-Diemand of South Deerfiled, MA.
By request of the family there will be no services.
