New Bedford - Edward S. Oliver, 82, of New Bedford died Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at home. He was the husband of the late Lillian G. (Kelley) Oliver. He was the father of Edward Oliver Jr & his wife Sharon of New Bedford, Phyllis D. Picard & her husband Kenneth of New Bedford, Joanne N. Bargioni & her husband Phillip of New Bedford and Kathleen J. Oliver of New Bedford. Mr. Oliver was the brother of Norma Fleurent of Fairhaven, Milton Oliver of New York and Walter Oliver & his wife Gilda of N. Dartmouth. H had 7 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren.
Mr. Oliver was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph and Diana (Nunes) Oliver.
He was a machine operator for Knapp Shoe before his retirement. Mr. Oliver was a corporal in the U.S. Marines and served during World War II, in the 1st Marine Division.He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and Veterans of Forgien Wars-Poirier Post
His funeral will be Friday, February 13, 2004, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 A.M. at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours are Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 5 - 8 P.M. Burial will be in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne Ma.
