Jean C. Eckhart, 78

Dateline: Carver. MA

Jean C. (deViveiros) Eckhart, 78, of Carver ,formerly of Brockton , passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday July 25, 2011 at the Braemoor Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Brockton .
Born in New Bedford, MA on March 20, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Violet (Hayden) deViveiros.
Jean grew up and was educated in New Bedford and was a graduate of New Bedford High School. She continued her education and received her degree as a registered nurse from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, also in New Bedford.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Eckhart had worked as a registered nurse for over 20 years at the former Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton and at Brockton City Hospital in Brockton.
Jean had made her home in Carver for 11 years and had previously resided for over 15 years in Brockton.
A former member of Parents Without Partners Chapter 525 in Brockton, she was also a former Sunday School Teacher and when younger, was an avid camper. Jean loved spending time with her adoring family and trips to Plymouth where she enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the waterfront and people watching.
She is survived by her devoted children Vickie L. Oldham of Carver, Bonnie L. Shepard and her husband Robert of Mansfield, Kent A. Eckhart and his wife Heidi of Mansfield and the late John R. Eckhart. The Cherished grandmother of Kelly, Janelle, Earl, Sean, Christopher, Melissa, Jasmine, David and Sharayah, she is also survived by her dear great grandchildren Adriana, Vanessa, Lila, Karli, Nina, Bryson, Donovan and Kira. She was the former wife of the late John R. Eckhart.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday August 2nd at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday August 1st from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Jean’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Patients Activity Fund at the Braemoor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 34 North Pearl St., Brockton, MA 02301.
