Obituary

Mr. Salvatore Vinciguerra, age 88 of Melrose, formerly of Medford died Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Ciampa) Vinciguerra. Mr. Vinciguerra was born and educated in Italy, son of the late Antonio and Maria (Pezullo) Vinciguerra. He emigrated from Italy to the United States in 1950 at the age of 27 and settled in Medford. He remained a Medford resident until just a few months ago. He worked as a skilled laborer, working on many of the majestic buildings that create the Boston skyline and roadways. His talents created much sought after advice in his personal life. Always ready to help family and friends with projects, he was considered a “jack of all trades” by his family and extended family. He was a staunch follower of St. Anthony and loved attending feast days and celebrations in his honor. He was an avid gardener and had a love for traveling, particularly to his childhood hometown in Italy, often accompanied by his beloved Grandson Roberto. He is survived by a daughter Karen Carolina Scialoia and her husband Franco of Melrose, one grandson, Roberto Scialoia of Melrose, a brother, Cosmo Vinciguerra and his wife Patty of Medford, three sisters. Ida, Maria & Anna Vinciguerra all of Italy and is the brother of the late Damiano Vinciguerra. Loving uncle of Anthony Vinciguerra, Ralph, David and Carol Stone. He leaves a sister In law Yvonne Stone of Wareham and several nieces and nephews in Italy.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Tuesday at 10:30 am followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony Of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours prior to funeral on Tuesday 9:30-10:30am. Services will conclude with entombment in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sal’s name may be sent to Boys Town National Headquarters, 200 Flanagan Boulevard PO Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010.
