Obituary

Roger Wayne Register, 61, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Edsel Young and Rev. Jeff Pangle officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Register was born August 27, 1949 in Ben Hill County to Ola Murray Register and the late J.W. Register. He had lived most of his life in Fitzgerald, was graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1968 and attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Viet Nam War, and was a member of American Legion Post #99. He had worked for the CSX Railroad, Fitzgerald Mills, and Modern Fibers and was a member of the Holiness Faith.

He is survived by one son: Andrew Wayne “Andy” (Marjorie) Register of Savannah; two grand children: Brandon Register and Payton Register; Mother: Ola Murray Register of Fitzgerald; three brothers: David (Patricia) Register, Jimmy (Kathy) Register, and Larry Donald (Shirley) Register all of Fitzgerald; three sisters: Joyce Pfeifle of Savannah, Mary Lou Biggs and Julia Ann (Earl) Ray, all of Fitzgerald; as well as several nieces and nephews.
