Gardner - Thelma (Maynard) Johnson, 91, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the widow of Kenneth R. Johnson (d. 1959). Thelma is survived by her son, William R. Johnson of Hubbardston; daughters, Sylvia Nordborg and husband Robert of Worcester and Diane of FL; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great, great-grandchildren.
Thelma’s beat friend and sister-in-heart, Florence E Anderson died in 1997.
Thelma was born in Newark, New Jersey, only child of George and Carrie (Ricker) Maynard. She lived in Worcester and was a graduate of Commerce High School, Class of 1937. She was head teletype operator at State Mutual Insurance Co., for many years. Thelma enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Friday, August 19, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. Burial of ashes will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester.
