GLOUCESTER: Joyce T. (Doucette) Jones, 60, of 118 Prospect Street, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in the Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston following an extended illness. She was the fiancée of William Thompson.
Born in Gloucester on July 29, 1950, she was the daughter of Helen L. (Robinson) Doucette of Gloucester and the late John B. Doucette. She was a lifelong resident and had attended St. Ann’s School.
Joyce was employed as a home health aide for the Action Home Care Program primarily at McPherson Park for over twenty years. She was known to have an exceptional work ethic and was dedicated to the people she cared for.
Joyce loved backyard cookouts, and spending time with her family and her cat, Tyler. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to Bill and her mother, she is survived by three children, Terry Jones, fiancée of Christopher Scotti, Robin Collins, fiancée of William Morris and Benjamin Jones; two grandchildren, Hannah and Nathan Collins; her sister, Linda Silva, companion of Daniel Reed and brother, Gilbert Doucette. She is also survived by three nieces, Darcey and Darice Doucette, and Amanda Silva; and three grandnieces, Mya Doucette, Mariah Gauthier and Neveah Moody. She was also predeceased by her nephew, Derek Doucette.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 30th at McPherson Park at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
