Donald Johnston Owler, 84, of North Stonington, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
Don was born in Putnum on Aug. 16, 1926 to Albert and Marion Owler. Don is a graduate from Wilbraham & Munson Academy, Maine Maritime Academy - serving in the Merchant Marines and receiving a Naval Commission, he also atttended Brown University. Don was the president of Almadon Mills and owner of a radio station in Florida.
Don is survivied by his wife, Muriel; his son, Albert; his daughters, Lucinda Drew, Alyson Bailey, Sarah Bailie, and their spouses; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; three step-daughters; and four step-grandchildren.
Don loved to be either sailing on the water, flying his planes, fishing, spending time with his family, watching the Red Sox win and relaxing with his best friend, Harvey- his rescued Greyhound.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the North Stonington Congregational Church. Burial will be at a later date in Massachusetts.
