WORCESTER-Amanda Williams, 96, of Worcester, died Saturday, July 16th in St. Mary Healthcare Center. Her husband of 53 years, John Williams, died in 1996. She leaves three daughters, Joan E. Williams of New York City, Lydia L. Fortune and Gwen Davis, both of Worcester; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Vivian W. Williams in 2005.
Mrs. Williams was a teacher for many years before retiring. She was an activist, a poet, a playwright, a singer, and foremost an educator.
A memorial service will held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 23rd in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary Healthcare Center, 26 Queen Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
