Obituary

Edward T. Mahoney, of Woburn, beloved husband of Barbara A. (O´Brien) Mahoney, passed away February 10th, at the Winchester Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Woburn, He was the son of the late William J. and Emma (Smith) Mahoney. Mr Mahoney graduated from Woburn High School in 1935 and received his degree from Boston College in 1939.

Mr. Mahoney was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Charles Parish.

During World War II he was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and commanded an LST in the invasion of Normandy on Utah Beach. He later served in the Pacific Theatre and witnessed the signing of the VJ agreement in Tokyo Harbor.

”Chuck” as he was known to his many acquaintences, was a well known Woburn business man. He served as president of S.B. Goddard Insurance Agency from 1977 to 1997. For many years he was an active member of the Woburn Host Lions Club.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Edward and his wife Ellen, Richard and his wife Brendar, Mary Ann Moynihan and her husband Chip, Nancy Harris and her husband Brian. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Richard, Meeghan, Matthew, Bridgit, Kevin and his wife Sara, Kathleen and her fiance Thomas and Michael mahoney, Ann, Sheila and Brendan Moynihan, Cailin, Abigail and Katharine Harris. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He is the cherished brother of Josephine J. Mahoney and is preceded in death by his sisters, Rose Mahoney and Grace Foley, and brothers, Charles, Francis, Rev. William and John Mahoney.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Friday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St. Woburn, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 3 thru 7. Services will cocnlude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn
