Thomas E. Young, 57

Thomas E. “Tucker” Young, 57, of North Attleboro, formerly of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Friday July 15, 2011 at his summer home in Sagamore Beach. He was the former husband of Linda E. (Stuart) Young of Milton, Florida.
Born in Brockton, MA on November 25, 1953, he was a dear son of the late H. Merle and Etta L. (Wellman) Young.
He grew up and was educated in Mansfield, and was a 1971 graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational High School in Easton.
For over the past 35 years, Mr. Young was employed for AMTRAK in Providence, RI. His positions at AMTRAK included working as a signalman and at the trouble desk.
A resident of North Attleboro for the past 30 years, he was a former Mansfield resident and while growing up, he along with family was a member of the Mansfield Congregational Church.
“Tucker” was a avid car enthusiast. He enjoyed collecting sports cars, was a member of the Cape Cod British Car Club and was a familiar face at local car shows.
Mr. Young was an ardent New England sports fan and while his daughter was growing up, he enjoyed coaching her basketball and softball teams.
“Tucker” loved spending summers and fishing on Cape Cod. His other hobbies included cooking, monitoring the weather, being a history buff, and when younger he enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his former wife, he is survived by his devoted daughter Marlene J. Christ and her husband Nick of Milton, Florida. The brother of Rachel E. Young-Jordan of Rhode Island, Rene L. Poczatek of Florida, Richard J. Young of Plainville, Timothy M. Young of Mansfield and the late Charles H. Young, he is also survived by his cherished grandson Braedon N. Young as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday July 23rd at 10:00 A.M. at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday July 22nd from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
