Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) Barber Fehrs, age 78 of Douglas, Georgia passed away peacefully July 15, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. She bravely battled cancer for several months. She was born on April 21, 1933 in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated from Duke University with honors. Her life’s work was raising and caring for her family. She attended St. Andrews Episcopal Church where she had been an active member for 47 years, as well as a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers, North Carolina where she and her family spent their summers for the past 10 years.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William H. Fehrs, Jr. and their three children; William H. Fehrs III (Sheena), Laurie Fehrs Johnson (David), and Kay Fehrs Srodulski. She will be missed by her ten grandchildren: Alina, Cristina, Adam, Katie, Ashley, Stephanie, Sarah, Emily, Rachel and Michael, and two great grandchildren, as well as her two sisters, Ann and Joan, and her brother Bill.

Peggy was an avid golfer, reader, and gardener; she also enjoyed being on the altar guild of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Her second home in the mountains brought her great joy during the last ten years. She had many good friends in Douglas and Cashiers who will miss Peggy dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 23rd, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. A fellowship will immediately follow the service in the church Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the Fehrs family hopes you will honor Peggy’s memory with a charitable gift to either St. Andrews Episcopal Church Altar Guild, 204 S. Coffee Avenue, Douglas, GA 31533 or Bethany Hospice, 201 Westside Drive, Douglas, GA 31533.
