Paul J. McDermott, a retired elections official with the City of Boston, died Monday in the New England Medical Center Boston. He was 59.
A resident of Medford for most of his life, Paul served in the Army during the Vietnam Era and also worked in the House of Representatives for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
He was the cherished son of George “Chick” and Evelyn (Thomann) McDermott of Medford. He was a devoted brother to Jean Fleszar and her husband Eric of Melrose, a dear uncle to Kirsten Centrella and her husband Rick of Medford and great uncle of Hailee Centrella. Paul was a beloved friend of Peggy Hoban, Don Saetti, George Cushman and Jerry Adrian. He is also survived by many aunts and cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
