NEW BEDFORD — Marie E. (Hipson) Wilson, age 88 years, of Dartmouth, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.
The wife of the late John O. Wilson who died in 1994, she was born in Hyde Park-Boston, the daughter of the late Athelston Young Hipson and the late Eva Elizabeth (White) Hipson and lived in this area since the early 1970's.
An avid bridge player, she along with her husband loved yachting and spent much time in BoothBay Harbor, Maine, sailing with friends and family. A former member of the New Bedford Yacht Club, she was also active with the Ladies Branch of the New Bedford Port Society and was a volunteer at bazaars of the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth. Also an avid reader, she loved taking cruises to many places with her sister.
Marie is survived by her sister Alva L. Hoadley of Stoughton, her niece Lynne Hoadley of Carver, and her nephews Wayne and Alan Hoadley of Stoughton.
Her private arrangements are with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma.
