Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Joseph F. Amero, Jr., 69, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Andrea (Means) Amero.
Born in Gloucester on January 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph F., Sr. and Margaret E. (White) Amero. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, he was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1959 and had attended Wentworth Institute.
Joe was employed as a computer technician for Quotron Systems in Boston for many years. He was also an avid fisherman and was a life member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks No. 892.
He is survived by two daughters, Kim and Jamie Amero and her companion, Kenny Amero and their mother, Beverly (Porter) Amero; a stepson, Richard Towle, Jr. and his wife Melanie; four grandchildren, Nichole Mitchell, Jason Conrad, Anna Towle and Timothy Towle; a brother, Jim Amero and his wife, Beverly; two sisters, Karen Jellow and her husband, Gordon and Gemma Flavin and her husband, Neil; a sister-in-law, Judy D’Avolio and her husband, Michael; his special friend, Norm and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his stepson, Robert Towle.
His funeral services will be held on Tuesday in the Pine Grove Cemetery, (Rt. 97) Haverhill St., Topsfield at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow at his home at 38 Green St., Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
