Robert O. Fritze, Sr., 87, of Lincoln Street died Wednesday, July 13 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 63 years Dorothy R. (Christian) Fritze, three sons Robert O. “Bo” Fritze, Jr. and his wife Sandy, Dean A. Fritze and his wife Diane and Wayne D. Fritze and his wife Kelly all of Spencer, two daughters Christine J. Ahearn and her husband Patrick of Spencer and Beverly J. Openshaw and her husband Donald of East Brookfield, a sister Rita Paras of Spencer, 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews and his dog Joey. He was pre-deceased by two brothers William & Theodore Fritze and a sister Theresa Grigas.
Mr. Fritze was born in Spencer, son of Willie A. and Elozia (Letendre) Fritze. He worked for 43 years at Bemis & Hobbs Oil Co. retiring in 1985. He owned and operated Fritze farm for many years. He was a member of Hillcrest Country Club and their “Growlers League”. He was a competitive bowler for the Central Mass Leagues and was a Baseball pitcher on a league for many years. He was a former member of the Spencer Fire Department.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, July 15 at 11:00AM in J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Spencer Rescue Squad, P.O.
