Obituary

Anthony S. Renda, a long-time resident of Somerville, died Sunday in the Hospital of Central Connecticut. He was 88.

Born and raised in the North End of Boston, Anthony served in the Army during World War II and participated in combat throughout Europe, earning a Bronze Star. Upon his return, he worked as an interior decorator and display decorator for the Jordan Marsh Co. in Boston. He was with the firm for 34 years. He was devoted to his large family and delighted his many neighbors and friends with his flower garden at his Somerville home. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The beloved son of the late Onofrio and Maria (LaColla) Renda, he was a devoted brother of Anna Howart of Hanover, Rose Plagenza of Merced, CA, Marie DeLisle of Revere, Frances Tencati of Mission Viejo, CA, Elena Campbell of Kensington, CT, the late Vito Renda, Nicholas Renda, Pasqualina Frasso, Vita D’Angeli, and Catherine Renda. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday evening, July 15th, from 5 through 9 and again on Saturday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
