Evelyn B. Rene, age 88
Former Longtime Tewksbury Resident
HAVERHIILL: Evelyn B. (O'Leary) Rene, age 88, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, recently of Haverhill, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Stevens- Bennett Home in Haverhill.
She was the beloved wife of Alfred A. Rene, who passed away on May 6, 2006.
Born in Boston on April 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John J. O'Leary and the late Elizabeth (Jennings) O'Leary.
Evelyn was raised in Roxbury and attended Boston Public Schools.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the cafeteria for the Tewksbury School Lunch Program at the Loella Dewing School.
Mrs. Rene resided in Tewksbury for 46 years, where she was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in West Andover.
Evelyn enjoyed flower gardening and traveling with her late husband on cruises and to Ireland.
She is survived by one son, Paul J. Rene and his wife Ruth (Allwood) of Plaistow, NH; one daughter, Joan M. Ricci and her husband Nicholas of Seabrook, NH; two grandchildren, Erin (Rene) Wetzelberger and her husband Todd of Baltimore, MD and Nicholas D. Ricci, Jr. of Everett; two great grandchildren, Elise and Claire Wetzelberger; also many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was the mother of the late Anne L. Dennis and sister of the late Lawrence, Elizabeth, Richard and Francis O'Leary and the late Margaret Owens.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 14, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be Friday, July 15, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Rd., Andover. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Stevens-Bennett Home, 337 Main St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
