WORCESTER: Ellen R. (Connell) Johnson, 68, of 435 Sunderland Road, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 10, 2011, after a long illness.
She leaves her husband of 48 years, Bill Johnson; 4 children, Patricia E. Johnson-Dilkey of Revere, William A. Johnson and his wife Michelle of Malden, Thomas M. Johnson and his wife Lynn of Holden, Kathleen H. Johnson and her husband Scott Fleming of Somerville; a brother, Michael G. Connell of Sunnyvale, CA; 9 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, William Connell and Francis J. Connell, Jr., both predeceased her. She was born and raised in Boston, daughter of the late Francis J. Connell, Sr. and Helen (Devine) Connell. She lived in Malden and in San Jose, CA before moving to Worcester in 2005.
After raising her children, Ellen worked in the patient accounts department at Malden Hospital for many years before she retired. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln St., is assisting the family with arrangements.
