Obituary

Mrs. Ellen Tex Goins Bowman Tilley, age 79, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on, Saturday, July 10, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on January 8, 1932 in Surry County, to the late Harvey and Nannie Lou Goins. Mrs. Tilley was a farmer and machine operator at Perry Manufacturing, worked as a cook at Westinghouse, Danbury Jail and Hardeeā€™s and was also a member of Albion Baptist Church. Mrs. Tilley is survived by two sons, Robert Bowman, Jr. (Bonnie) of Walkertown and Ricky Bowman (Jerleane) of Pilot Mountain; three daughters, Mary Frances Swift of Pinnacle, Peggy Ann Woods of Elkin, and Linda Sue Goins of Westfield; one sister, Annie Mae Jenkins (Harvey) Butcher of Ashboro; twelve grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Tilley was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Thomas Goins; and a great-granddaughter, Baily Lynn Potts. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Cox-Needham Chapel at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Kevin Jenkins officiating with interment to follow in the Albion Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends on, Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
