Obituary

Whitman – Henry “Hank” Walther, Jr. 74 a 46 year resident of Whitman, died unexpectedly on Sunday July 10. He was the beloved husband of Eva (Smith) Walther.

Born and raised in New York he was the son of the late Henry and Genevieve (Kucel) Walther.

Hank was a proud veteran of the US Marines having served from 1957-1963.

He was proud to have worked for over 37 years as a meat manager for Roche Brothers.

He was a longtime member and an honorary Grand Knight of the Whitman Knights of Columbus, and an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #841 of Rockland.

Hank fulfilled his lifelong dream of traveling to every state in the United States with his brother. Hank had many friends that he cherished, but he was most proud of his 2 daughters and 5 grandsons.

This year he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage with his loving wife Eva, whom he adored with all his heart

With his roots in New York, Hank was a life long “Yankees Fan”.

In addition to his wife Eva he is survived by his daughters Kayleen A. Newcomb and her husband Edward of Brockton, Dawn M. Varley and her husband Bruce of Whitman, his brother Donald Walther of Mayfield, NY, his sister-in-law Judith M. Smith of Whitman, his brother-in-law William Smith and his wife Patricia of Rockland and his grandchildren PFC Edward A. Newcomb III, Matthew Newcomb, and William, Paul and John Varley as well as many nieces and nephews

His funeral service will be held Friday July 15 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Thursday July 14 from 4 - 8 PM.
