Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Clifford B. Turner, Jr., 86, a resident of Mansfield died at home on Monday July 11, 2011
Cliff ,as he preferred to be called, was born October 3, 1924 in Foxvale, now Foxborough, MA to the late Clifford, Sr. and Mildred E. (Gray) Turner,
He attended Foxborough schools and graduated from Foxborough High School. He attended Atlantic Union College with the intent of becoming a dentist. His aspirations were cut short when he was drafted into the U.S. Army.
Cliff proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. The Army deferred his service long enough to send him to Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to become a certified X-ray technician.
Due to intensification of the European conflict, Cliff found himself on the beaches of Normandy during the Normandy invasion in General Patton’s 3rd army. As a conscientious objector, he used his skills as a medic during this time as well as in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.
After his active duty on the front lines, Cliff finally was able to use his X-ray training service his final year in Hospital Beaujon-a hospital in Paris. He proudly recalled many times that he was a member of a team who x-rayed General Patton upon the Generals discharge.
Upon returning home, Cliff built a successful career as a General Contractor. He specialized in producing beautiful custom homes as well as remodeling many others.
At 31 years old, Cliff became Mansfield Banks youngest ever member of the board of directors. He also served in many of the banks administrative offices for 50 years. He was on the committee that oversaw the construction of the present Mansfield Bank building at 80 North Main St. in Mansfield.
More than anything, Cliff loved the Lord and faithfully served Him his entire life. His family founded the Foxborough Seventh-Day-Adventist Church, and Cliff proudly built their first building in 1958 which now stands at 308 Central St. in Foxborough.
Cliff loved his family. He is survived by his former wife Beverly Turner of Norton; Glen Turner his oldest son of Mansfield and his wife Judith and their daughter Monica; Mark Turner his youngest son of Taunton and his wife Renita and their children Stacie, Andrew, Kristina and Taylor. Cliff was predeceased by his brother Ronald Turner.
A Memorial service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday afternoon August 6th at 4 P.M. at the Foxborough Seventh-Day-Adventist Church at 308 Central Street in Foxborough. Private burial was held in the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Foxborough Seventh-Day-Adventist Church for the benefit of the Berkshire Mission, a missionary endeavor.
