Frank M. Young, 91, of Plympton formerly of Mansfield passed away on Tuesday July 5, 2011 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He was the beloved husband of Hilda S. (Dupont) Young and the late Gilda Young.
Born in Mansfield, MA on June 16, 1920, he was a son of the late Francillo and Grace (Codding) Young.
Frank grew up and was educated in Mansfield, and was a 1938 graduate of Mansfield High School. He furthered his studies and graduated from the Franklin Institute.
A United States Navy Veteran, he proudly served his country during WWII and on March 13, 1946, was honorably discharged from the service with the rank of Aviation Metalsmith Second Class. He was a life member of the DAV- Randolph Post.
Mr. Young was a retired Chemist and had been employed for 16 years at the former Compo Chemical Co. in Mansfield prior to retiring in 1972.
A resident of Plympton for over 45 years, Frank served as the former Registrar of Voters for the Town of Plympton and was a member of the Upland Sportsman’s Club of Plympton. He was also a former member of the Mansfield Rotary Club.
An avid golfer, Mr. Young was a member of the Halifax Country Club and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his adoring family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews and was the brother of the late H. Merle Young and the late Selwyn C. Young.
Graveside funeral services with military honors were held on Friday July 8th at 1:00 P.M. at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield. Visiting hours were omitted.
