Ruth C. (Lindquist) Norling, 101, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011, in her home at Briarwood. Her husband, Claus H. Norling, died in 1992. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Oscar L. and Hilma (Mars) Lindquist. Two brothers and a sister predeceased her. She is survived by her step-children, B. Jean Silva of Vineyard Haven, Kenneth R. Norling of Auburn, and Barry Norling and his wife Abby of Skowhegan, ME; 9 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren, and 1 step-great, great grandchild.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Burncoat Baptist Church, and the Grace Mission Guild. Ruth was a social worker for the City of Worcester. She was a very independent, private, and God-fearing lady. Ruth collected dolls and had an extensive doll collection. She also enjoyed handwork, knitting and needlepoint. Ruth enjoyed playing bridge with the ladies at Briarwood.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel. Calling hours will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 12 Noon. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
