Guy A. Amara, 87, of East Bridgewater, passed away on Friday at the Signature Health Brockton Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (McKenney) Amara.
Guy was born and brought up in East Bridgewater, son of the late Carmelo and Maria (Alberin) Amara. He attended East Bridgewater Schools.
He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.
Guy was a Corrections Officer for the Massachusetts Corrections Institution, in Bridgewater for 32 years and he also worked for Hallamore Crane & Rigging in Holbrook.
He enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Alan Arruda and his wife Rosemary, Douglas Amara and his wife Martha all of East Bridgewater, his daughter Nancy Amara of Alfred, ME. , grandfather of Peggy Hatch of Avon, Aaron and Andrew Amara of East Bridgewater.
Relatives and friend are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday July 6th from 5:00-8:00PM, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368
