O’Brien, Phyllis L. 85, of Plymouth (White Horse Beach,) July 1 at home.
Wife of the late Nicholas J. O’Brien, loving mother of Sean P. O’Brien and Barbara Anapolsky of Roslindale, William F. O’Brien and his wife MaryBeth of Medfield, Patrick S. O’Brien and his wife Tracey of West Bridgewater, Maureen O. Yachimski and her husband the late Stephen J. Yachimski of North Easton, Shirley M. O’Brien and her husband the late Peter Norton of Plymouth and Jean O. Afzali and her husband Hassan of White Horse Beach. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Chesley J. McKenzie and the late Sister Mary Aquin.
Phyllis was born in Marlboro the daughter of Chesley J. and Alma (Fields) McKenzie. She went to Framingham Schools and graduated from High School in 1942. She graduated from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1946 as a registered nurse. Phyllis worked as a school nurse for the town of Randolph and the City of Brockton. She was also a visiting nurse in Brockton. Phyllis was a past member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association. She lived in Brockton and summered at White Horse Beach as a child. She moved to Plymouth 29 years ago after retiring.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Bonaventure’s Church on Wednesday, July 6, at 12:00 noon. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home at 619 State Road, (Rte 3A) Plymouth (Manomet) before the mass from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society Plymouth-unit 1115 W Chestnut Street, Brockton, MA 02301 or Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360. Burial will be in the Manomet Cemetery.
