Lois Ann Twitchell, 75, a longtime resident of Natick, passed away on July 2, 2011 at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Theresa (Tobin) Twitchell.
Born in Somerville, Lois was raised and educated in Arlington where she graduated from Arlington High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State Teacher’s College and her Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern University. Lois dedicated her life to being an elementary school teacher, most notably the 5th grade, in Florida, Lexington, Natick, and Framingham from which she retired. An avid athlete, Lois enjoyed swimming, working as a swimming instructor during her summers. and skiing in addition to having a particular fondness for cats and dogs. She also enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association and St. Patrick’s Church in Natick.
Lois was the devoted sister of Paul Twitchell and his wife Eunice of Wellesley Hills, Sr. Mary Elaine, SND of Worcester, and the late Thomas Twitchell, Jr. of WI and John Twitchell of Cotuit. She was the cherished aunt of Thomas Twitchell, Patricia Gondek, James Twitchell, and William Twitchell all of WI, John Twitchell of CO, Jason Twitchell of Shrewsbury, Tara Nickerson of Cotuit, Terece Horton of Marstons Mills, Kevin Twitchell of NJ, Paul Twitchell of Dorchester, Nancy Murphy of N. Andover, and Sr. Katherine Twitchell, O. Carm of NY. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Lois’s funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 9:00 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, Natick at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM in the Twitchell family lot in Cohasset. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 6 from 4-7 PM.
