Obituary

Jeremiah J. Reardon, 70, of New Bedford died July 1, 2011 at home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Dr. Mary Sylvia-Reardon and the late Margaret Louise (Logue) Reardon.
Born and raised in Roslindale, MA, the son of the late Jeremiah J. and Helen (Ramsey) Reardon, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life before moving to New Bedford in 2007.
Mr. Reardon was an active communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth. He served his parish as a deacon for 10 years and served in the Residence Encounter Christ Prison Ministry, Cursillo and Emmaus.
He was formerly employed by Sealy Mattress and Serta Mattress for over 45 years until his retirement.
Mr. Reardon enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dog Guinness, gardening, bargain shopping, reading and travel.
Survivors include his wife; 5 sons, Joseph Reardon of Attleboro, Edward Reardon and his wife Kathie of Acushnet, Sean Reardon and his wife Tanya Cofresi of Dartmouth, Brian Reardon and his partner Michael Bono of Seattle, WA and Matthew Reardon and his wife Victoria of Bellingham, WA; 2 daughters, Christine McFee and her husband Rory of Mattapoisett and Alexis Reardon and her partner Glenn Lagasse of New Bedford; 8 step-children, Scott Soares of Longmeadow, MA, Dr. Gregory Soares and his wife Dr. Barbara Soares of Barrington, RI, Brian Soares and his wife Donna of Windham, ME, Stephanie Soares of New Bedford, Daniel Pike and his fiancée Kayla Cabral of Fairhaven, John Pike and his fiancée Candra Andrade, Matthew Pike and his fiancée Katie O'Connell of New Bedford and Nicholas Pike and his fiancée Jessica Correia of New Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Parker Reardon of Dartmouth; 2 brothers, Kevin Reardon of Bourne and Timothy Reardon of Pocasset; 2 sisters, Rosalie Tribou of Buzzards Bay and Denise Spinosa of Wareham; his mother-in-law, Helen (Dutra) Sylvia of New Bedford; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Jeremiah J. Reardon, Jr. and infant Jeremiah J. Reardon and the brother of the late Kathleen Bavineau.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday, July 6th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth at 10 AM. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, July 5th from 4-8 PM.
