George Thomas Radford, age 72, Douglas, GA passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Radford was born on January 31, 1937 to the late Bernard Adolfus and Elizabeth Leo Andrews Radford in Broxton, GA. He was an owner/manager of Industrial Controls and he was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Radford was preceded in death by a sister: Patricia Rowells. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with interment following in the Pridgen Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include: wife: Margaret Lie-Nielsen, Broxton, GA; stepdaughter: Amanda (Brock) Askew, Neptune Beach, FL; stepson: Erik Lie-Nielsen, Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughters: Caroline Askew, Matilda Lie-Nielsen; grandson: Turner Lie-Nielsen; brother: James Edwin Radford, Tifton, GA; Mary Frances Mann, Gainesville, FL, Doris Lane Harvey, Midwest City, OK, Betty Carolyn Shanks, Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Sims Funeral Home from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
