WASHINGTON...Rita M. Koch, 90, of Eureka, formerly of Washington, passed away at 11:59 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.
Rita was born on May 19, 1921 in Rutland to William and Sarah Merdian Volk. She married Melvin Koch in Washington on August 14, 1969. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1990.
Among those surviving is one brother, Virgil (Virginia) Volk of Washington; two sisters, Esther (Laverne) Pomeranke of Ladysmith, WI and Theresa Stroud of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters-in-law, Joyce and Fran Volk, both of Washington and many loving nieces and nephews. She was also preceded by two brothers, Cletus and Louis Volk.
Rita had worked for several years at Herbst and then later at the Ben Franklin store in Washington.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Washington and had been active in the parish’s quilt club.
A funeral mass for Rita will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Monsignor John Prendergast officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Mason-White Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.
