Florence M. (Lord) Amaral, 90, of New Bedford died June 27, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Edmund E. Amaral.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Robinson) Lord, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Martin's Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Amaral was formerly employed as a secretary at Wamsutta Financial before retiring from Cherry and Webb. She volunteered as a candy striper at St. Luke's Hospital many years ago.
She enjoyed travel and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, David Amaral and his wife Elaine of Acushnet; a daughter, Kathy Sylvia of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, Wendy Couture of Arizona, Scott Amaral of Acushnet, Matthew Sylvia and Christopher Sylvia, both of New Bedford; a great-granddaughter, Casey Lyn Couture; and a niece, Joyce Curhan of West Yarmouth.
Her private Funeral Service will be held in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery.
