FRANKLIN: Vincent J. “Papa” O’Brien 75 a Franklin resident since 1964, died Sunday June 26, 2011 at Milford Regional Medical Center, following a long illness. He was the husband of Lois A. (LePauloue) O’Brien.
Born in Allston, June 28, 1935 a son of the late William Stegemann and Maude A. (Babcock) Stegemann, he was raised and educated in Allston and lived in the Boston area until moving to Franklin.
Mr. O’Brien retired from the Corning Medical Co. in Medfield where he worked for more than 20 years. He also worked at the Honeywell Corp. in Brighton for 17 years.
He loved spending time with family & friends, was an avid reader, loved music, bowling, card playing, especially cribbage, and enjoyed being a member of the Sunshine Club at the Franklin Senior Center.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 55 years are his 6 daughters: Kathleen E. O’Brien and her companion Charles Higgins of Franklin, Susan J. Allard and her husband Russ of Hopedale, Dianne L. Fayle and her husband Douglas of Wrentham, Donna P. Brunelli and her husband James of Franklin, Maureen A. Rook and her husband Bryan of Bellingham, Linda A. Sottile and her husband David of Franklin, a brother: William “Chub” Stegemann of Brighton, 13 grandchildren: Katy and Rebecca O’Brien, Amanda, Heather & Russell Allard, Alison Fayle, Michael O’Brien, Bryan & Laura Brunelli, Nicholas & Joseph Bertone, Andrea & Jackie Sottile. 2 great grandchildren: Emily & Leonardo O’Brien, and many nieces and nephews.
He is also the brother of the late Douglas “Bud” O’Brien.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday @ 9:15 AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. www.oterifuneralhome.com with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church SQ. at 10AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
