Westport….Carlotta (Southard) Jewell, 99, widow of Harold A. Jewell of Westport died at home Wednesday, February 4, 2004. She was born in Bangor, Maine, daughter of the late William E. and the late Gertrude (Mayo) Southard and had been a Westport resident since 1954.
She studied at Thibodeau Business School for 2 years taking secretarial courses.
She was a very active person and had been a member and past president of the Westport Woman’s Club, the New Bedford Country Club Women’s Golf Association and the Credit Women’s Breakfast Club. She was also an avid golfer and bridge player.
She was a member of the Unitarian Memorial Church in Fairhaven.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Wilhelmina Parlee and the late Dorothy Chadeayne.
Funeral services to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2004 at POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport, MA 02790 at 3:00 P.M.
Calling hours will be Sunday 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service.
Interment service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League of New Bedford, 125 MacArthur Drive, New Bedford, MA 02740.
