Julia Zingg Jones, 97, of Mystic, died peacefully with her family by her side at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital on June 22, 2011.
She was born on October 16, 1913 in Orange, New Jersey; the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth Zingg.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years, William Ellsworth Jones, as well as her nine brothers and sisters.
Julia and her husband, “Duke”, lived for many years and raised their daughters in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts and contributed her talents as a church and hospital volunteer which continued after her move to Connecticut when she attended the Mystic Congregational Church.
Julia is survived by her two daughters, Sue Curtiss and her husband John of Mystic and Sara Oakes of Niantic; four grandchildren, Matthew Curtiss and his wife CC of Groton, Andrew Curtiss and his wife Mary Kay of Simsbury, Kate Oakes Feiring and her husband Mark of Baltimore, Maryland; and Brian Oakes and his wife Hannah of Brooklyn, New York; as well as five great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Mystic Manor as well as Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for the comfort and care that was extended to their mother and grandmother.
