Ruby Rogers Tyson, 96, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Ocilla Church of God with Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in River Bend Cemetery, Ocilla. Visitation will be held 6-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Tyson was born August 9, 1914 in Irwin County to the late A.R. and Jonnie Green Rogers.
She was a former resident of Tallahassee, Titusville and Hallandale, FL. Mrs. Tyson was a homemaker and a retired manager for Stanley Home Products. She was a faithful member of the Ocilla Church of God and a former adult Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Tyson is survived by her children: Ronnie Tyson of Ocilla, Bishop Frankie & Joyce Tyson of Asheville, NC, Margie & Bill Sowell, Betty & Paul Bell of Fitzgerald and Claire & Jack Till of Cumming; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; brother, A.V. (Carolyn) Rogers of Sycamore; daughter-in-law: Linda Tyson of Sevierville, TN as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Ezekiel “Zeke” Tyson, son, Jimmy Tyson, three brothers and two sisters.
