LOWELL—Arlene M. (Corrigan) McAuliffe, 78 years old, died Thursday morning, February 5th, at her home after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert A. McAuliffe, who survives her.
She was born in Cambridge, on June 11, 1925, a daughter of the late Leo V. and Agnes (Clancy) Corrigan, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, in Cambridge.
Mrs. McAuliffe has resided in the Belvidere section of Lowell for the past 53 years, and had been employed as a receptionist by the Trull Brook Tennis Club for over twenty years, until her retirement. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Surviving her besides her husband are eight children: Arlene McDermott and Jack Lightfoot, of Lowell; Thomas and Diane McAuliffe, of Dunstable; Carol McAuliffe, of Lowell; Joan McAuliffe, of Lowell; Phyllis McAuliffe, of Lowell; Leo and Marcia McAuliffe, of Westford; Paul McAuliffe, of Lowell; and Nancy McAuliffe and Keith Mochida, of Chelmsford; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters-in-law: Mary E. Dignan, of Cambridge; and Monica Corrigan, of Winchester; also several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Robert W. McAuliffe, and sister of the late Helen A. Beacham, Leo J. Corrigan, and Mary Phalen.
Friends may call on Sunday February 8th, from 3 to 7 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Funeral Monday morning, February 9th, at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
