Mr. Olin Jack 'Johnny' Jenkins, 82 of Rockingham, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 24, in the Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Zeb Jones officiating. Internment with Military Honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
A lifelong resident of Richmond County, Johnny was born on April 12, 1929 to the late Marshall and Hattie Anderson Jenkins. He served in the US Army, retired from Avondale Mills, and was a longtime member of Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Jenkins, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Ruth Hodges Jenkins; a sister, Nicey Spivey of Rockingham; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons Internantional, Richmond Southern Chapter.
The family will be receiving friends in the days prior to the funeral at the home of Fred Jenkins, 163 Jenkins Ave., Rockingham.
