Obituary

UXBRIDGE - John P. Mangan, 75, of 76 South Main Street, died February 3 in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Northbridge.

He leaves a sister, Mary L. Hencinski, and a brother, Michael F. Mangan, both of Webster; his longtime companion, Katherine L. “Kay” Bedard with whom he lived; a nephew, James M. Hencinski of Minnesota; a niece, Jane E. Herrion of Dudley; and a great nephew, Christopher J. Herrion of Dudley.

He was born and raised in Dudley, a son of Michael and Mary (Galvin) Mangan, and attended Dudley schools. He lived here over 25 years.

Mr. Mangan worked in the maintenance department at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester before retiring in 1993. Before that, he was a colorer at Cranston Print Works Co. in Webster.

He attended Saint Mary’s Church every week. He was a former active member of the Webster Knights of Columbus Council #228 and also of the Cardinal Wright Assembly #24 of Auburn. He loved reading, traveling, country music, line dancing and walking. He also enjoyed history, particularly the Civil War Period. He was a self-taught artist. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

Mr. Mangan donated his body to the anatomical gift program at UMass Medical School in Worcester for biomedical research.

A Mass of Remembrance will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. The family suggests donations be made to Uxbridge Senior Citizens Center, South Main Street, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
