Obituary

In Stoughton, June 18, 2011 James "Tex" Teixeira, age 79 passed away following a lengthy illness while surrounded by his family. James was preceded in death by his wife Judith (Lopes) Teixeira. He was born in Central Falls, R.I. to his late parents Frank & Mary (Souza) Teixeira. James was educated in Taunton schools and has lived here most of his life. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. James was a retired Lt. for the Dept. of Corrections in Bridgewater. He also drove school bus for H&L Bloom Co. for 36 years. Later on he was a crossing guard in Taunton for 8 years. James was always involved in sports including; President & coach for the Taunton Little League, coached football for the North End Bulldogs and was involved in coaching several other teams. James was an avid ballroom dancer, enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos, all sports and cherished his time with his family. Jame’s leaves his four children; James Teixeira Jr., Jack Teixeira, Sandra Sousa & her husband Michael, Brenda Mello & her husband Eric all of Taunton. His grandchildren; Michael, Jennifer and Theresa Sousa, Benjamin, Olivia and Jillian Teixeira, Katie Soule, Marissa Mello, Jack Teixeira and the late Christina Sousa and great grandson Andrew Teixeira. Jame’s late siblings; Lorraine Hurley, Irene Everett and Frank Teixeira. James also leaves many nieces and nephews and his many close friends. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Weds. June 22nd at 9am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony’s Church in Taunton at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tues. from 4-8pm. Interment in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in James memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MA. Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA. 02472.
