Jesse Benjamin Jolly, 95, of Clarksville,TN went home to be with the Lord Jesus, Saturday, June 18, 2011.
Jesse was a pilot in the U.S. Navy for twenty-one years. After retirement from the Navy, he earned a degree in education and taught math, drivers education and coached cross country for Clarksville-Montgomery School System.
At age fifty-eight, he began a healthy life style of running. He ran over 22,000 miles. He competed in Senior Games and Olympics at state and national levels. He won 763 metals. He was still competing in May 2011 at 95. He is being buried wearing his favorite jacket with emblems from various events and one of the gold medals.
Surviors include his wife, of 69 years Edna Greenhill Jolly, Clarksville sons, Brad (Beth) Jolly, Jonesboro, TN and Doug (Linda) Jolly, Clarksville. three Grandchildren Brian Jolly, North Carolina, Dax Jolly, Knoxville, Lynnette (Matt) Poston, one great - grandson Luke Poston, brother Jim (Rose) Jolly, Fair Oaks, CA, sister Elizabeth Earnest, Santa Cruz, CA.
Visitaion will be Monday 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM June 20, 2011 and 11:00 AM until the hour of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Whitmer officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarksville YMCA Members.
Mr. Jolly was born December 1, 1915, in Valley Center, CA. the son of Peter Benjamin and Amelia Demuth Jolly.
