Jacqueline C. (O'Bomsawin) Walsh Kopaczewski, 77, of Acushnet died Tuesday June 14, 2011 surrounded by her family at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Anthony S. Kopaczewski and the late Donald J. Walsh.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Hector and Evangeline (Duquette) O'Bomsawin, she lived in Acushnet for most of her life.
Jackie was an avid reader who enjoyed nothing more than a good book. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and special auntie to her many nieces and nephews. She shared a special bond with her six sisters and their infamous Pow Wow club.
Survivors include her husband; five children, Kevin Walsh, Lisa Cory and her husband Stephen, Brian Walsh and his wife Lori, and Maribeth White and her husband Raymond, all of Acushnet, and Meghan Walsh Roderick of New Bedford; three sisters, Yolande Scotti and Therese Ociesa and her husband Stanley, all of New Bedford, and Marcelle Hebert and her husband Henry of Acushnet; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Eric Walsh and the sister of the late Yvette Fortin, Simone Dube, Lillian Saenz, and Roland O'Bomsawin.
The ones we love never truly leave us, they remain forever in our hearts.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday June 23, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven. Burial in Acushnet Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday June 22, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Route 6, Mattapoisett.
