Shirley Fales, 80, Douglas, GA passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Fales was born on October 14, 1930 in Coffee County, GA. Ms. Fales was preceded in death by her father: Cleon Fales; mother and stepfather: Willie Mae Vickers Fales Purvis and E. D. Purvis. She was retired from South Georgia College after many years of teaching. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Craig Hutto officiating. Survivors include: cousins: Frances Neugent, Douglas, GA, Karen (Robert) Krause, Conklin, NY, Vickie Lee (Michael) Whigam, Hilliard, FL, Shirley Rose (Wes) Glisson, Auburn, AL, Susan (Dennis) Clark, Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Douglas Coffee County Humane Society.
