TAUNTON - Joseph Oliveira, 87, of Taunton, died on June 9, 2011 at Marian Manor.
He was the husband of the late Alice P. (Simmons) Oliveira, and son of the late John and Antonia (Martins) Oliveira.
He was born in Fall River, MA and lived in Taunton since 1948.
He is survived by his two sons, Rev. John J. Oliveira, Pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Saint John the Baptist Church, New Bedford, MA, and James P. Oliveira and his wife, Pamela, of North Dighton, MA and his grandson, Nathan J. Oliveira of North Dighton, MA. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank Oliveira and his sisters, Helen Oliveira, Alice Oliveira and Cecilia (Oliveira) O’Leary.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Marine Corps and was a retired Patrolman of the Taunton Police Department.
He was a communicant of Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish and a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Italian Social Club and the Tahanto Associates.
Visiting Hours will be held on MONDAY, June 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, MA.
His funeral will be held from the funeral home on TUESDAY, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church, Taunton at 11:30 a.m.
Interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
