Obituary


Richard “Dick“ F. Twomey, 69, of Londonderry, NH and formerly of Lynn, MA, died Friday June 10, 2011 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester. He was born November 11, 1941 in Lynn, MA and was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Collins) Twomey. He was raised and educated in Lynn, and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School of Lynn. Mr. Twomey also received a B.S. in Business from Salem State University. Mr. Twomey served stateside in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and later and was employed as an engineer with General Electric Aircraft Engines. He worked in both the Lynn and Hooksett, NH plants for 36 years, prior to his retirement in 2002. Mr. Twomey was a resident of Londonderry for 34 years, and was a communicant of St. Mark's Church of Londonderry. He was also a member of the GE ELFUNS charitable group, and the GE Golf League. He enjoyed golf, loved to travel, and cherished time spent with his family and friends.
Members of family include his wife of 43 years, Sheila (Narciso) Twomey of Londonderry, two sons and their wives, Philip & Kimberly Twomey of Derry, and James & Katy Twomey of Portland, ME., four grandchildren, Joshua, Anna, Nathan and Claire Twomey, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosemary Croft in 2001.
Calling hours were Sunday June 12, 2011 from 2 to 6pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at 10:30am at St. Mark's Church, corner of South Rd. and Mammoth Rd. in Londonderry. The burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery of Londonderry.
