Patricia A. (Hayes) Rooney, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died at her home in Charlestown following an extended illness. She was 73 years old.
Patricia was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Girls High School in Boston in 1956. She worked for New England Telephone Company for several years and then worked as a secretary at The Clarence R. Edwards Middle School in Charlestown and The Kent/Harvard School also in Charlestown. The final 3 years of her working career was in the Charlestown Navy Yard Musuem as a clerk.
Patricia is the beloved wife of 53 years to Robert F. Rooney. She is the devoted mother of Patricia Pesaturo and her husband James of Malden, Bobby Rooney and his wife Ani of California, Gerry Rooney and his wife Beth of Charlestown and Eileen Rooney and her wife Leah Blackstone of Charlestown. She is the loving Grandmother of Anthony, Daniel, Sarah, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Rachel, Hannah, Gerard Jr., Terrell and Benjamin. She is the beloved sister of Charles Hayes and his wife Mary Lou of Charlestown and the late Maryellen Martin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Patricia's Funeral on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 a.m. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
